Kay Velardo

Director of Administration

Kay Velardo, the Director of Administration at Community Counseling Center is a proud Las Vegas native. With an over 30-year tenure at CCC, Kay's journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment and diverse contributions to the organization.

Kay's career at CCC began as a receptionist, showcasing her dedication and versatility. Over the years, she transitioned seamlessly through various roles, including billing and Agency Administrator.

Kay's commitment to professional development is evident in her certification in nonprofit management from UNLV. In her current role, she oversees finance and billing, collaborating closely with the agency accountant and auditors to ensure the financial health of CCC. Kay's expertise extends to her role as a member of the SAPTA Advisory Board.

Her connection to CCC is deeply rooted in her personal history, having met founder Ron Lawrence during the AIDS pandemic and subsequent creation of the agency. As the longest-serving staff member and 2022 recipient of the agency’s Light of Hope award, Kay's dedication is a cornerstone of CCC's legacy.

Beyond her administrative prowess, Kay has been a stalwart advocate for the HIV community in Las Vegas for decades. Her involvement extends to roles at AFAN, serving on the Board of Golden Rainbow, and co-chairing the Southern Nevada NAMES Project. Notably, Kay played a pivotal role in bringing HIV education into multiple local high schools, demonstrating her commitment to community outreach and awareness. Her representation of Las Vegas in multiple international displays of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in Washington DC reflects her dedication and impact.

Away from her professional endeavors, Kay channels her passion into animal rescue, serving as a board member for PAWcasso Las Vegas. Her multifaceted contributions make her an indispensable asset to CCC and a compassionate force for positive change in the community.
